Back to School Shopping Tips:
Avoid character notebooks, folders, pens, backpacks, etc. (That character will be obsolete by winter break anyway).
Store brand crayons are just as awesome as name brands. You also don’t have to buy the 64 pack; the 24 pack is just as good and it gives your children the opportunity to create their own colors.
Get the school supplies before the clothes and shoes to guarantee that your child(ren) have everything they need to be successful in class.
Buy extras while everything is on sale so you do not have to replenish the supply at much higher prices.
Send some excess supplies to school for your kids to share with friends in need.
Wal-Mart shoes are awesome. Do not let anyone tell you differently.
Keep track of the sales every week and compare prices to ensure you don’t miss a deal.
Consult with other parents about deals they have heard about.
Recruit family members to help you send your kids to school prepared (make sure you return the favor).
On the first day of school, call in to work and run around the house with a bottle of wine and CELEBRATE! You’ve earned it!
Keep track of some of the back to school events in your area. St. Louis County Libraries offer free back to school programs. Here’s the link:
