R-S is thrilled to share this theatrical production, as well as Artistic Director Christina Rios when I asked her about tacking such a complex show based on female icons of American History.
“It's always hard to produce anything rooted in history, as it is approached with a different kind of scrutiny than a production about fictional people,” Christina said.
“But I, personally, love history. I have ways believed that truth is far more interesting and allows the patron to see these people in a way they never imagined before.”
Nick Moramarco, Music Director, was equally excited when he discovered R-S was producing First Lady Suite.
“This cast is great to work with,” Nick said. “Flexible and hard working. They're doing a fantastic job with some extremely difficult music. <And> the music is VERY difficult. As you mentioned, these characters are iconic. Finding just the right people to handle the music and to portray these well-known figures was a challenge. Luckily, we had a wonderful turnout at auditions, and were graced with the passionate and dedicated performers you'll see on stage.”
First Lady Suite is directed by Shualee Cook and musically directed by Nick Moramarco
